As looks by some of Australia’s biggest names in fashion – including Alex Perry, Arthur Galan AG, Carla Zampatti, Ellery, Lui Hon, Sass & Bide and Yeojin Bae – sailed down Runway 6, Harper’s BAZAAR, VAMFF Hair Director Caterina Di Biase for L’Oréal Professionnel kept hair looking whimsical and undone, complementing the classic femininity expressed in many of the designs, writes Ruth Cooper.

The look, which had a wet-dry texture, was “supposed to look almost like the models have done it themselves,” explained Caterina backstage.

Using L’Oréal Professionnel’s Tecni.Art styling range, Caterina focused on creating interesting, textured hair that was “twisted back in an effortless way.”

“The inspiration behind this look was to create something that was soft and feminine, yet showcased textured hair at its best,” she said.

1. First apply L’Oréal Professionnel Tecni.Art Full Volume Extra onto dry hair from roots to ends. Then mix a small amount of L’Oréal Professionnel Tecni.Art Fix Max Gel and Volume Extra in a bowl. Apply roots to ends. This is to build maximum volume, texture and grip into the hair as well as hold.
2. Dry the hair using a diffuser and your hands to create a beautiful raw texture. No brushes required. Use your fingers to direct hair off the face and create height through the front.
3. Pull the hair back into a low ponytail. Secure just above the nape with a hair tie. Loosen the ponytail a little to help mould volume through the top of the hair.
4. Wrap the ponytail into a deconstructed bun. Secure with bobby pins and U pins so you can maintain the undone, textured look. Finish with L’Oréal Professionnel Tecni.Art Fix Design to hold the style in place.
