Inspiration abounded at the 2024 Australian Hair Industry Awards (Creative), with our Aussie and New Zealand hair stars showcasing their editorial talents across a multitude of categories. Amongst these accolades, the very best in global hair, in the International Hairdresser of the Year category, was also awarded, this year going to acclaimed British hairdresser Mark Lesson, Creative Director of Mark Leeson salons.
Tiled SCI-TEX, Mark’s collection showcases his fascination with a sci-fi, futuristic aesthetic. With visual direction and makeup thanks to Megumi Matsuno and photography by Australia’s own Andrew O’Toole, the collection worked with Revlon Professional hair products and Dolce&Gabbana fashion to create the looks.
Metallic details in the iridescent fashion styling, and in bold makeup looks on eyes and lips, create this futuristic theme, while a silver boxy bob continues this colour theme. Short bobs, micro-fringes, strong lines, conceptual silhouettes and square-style shapes also tend to the robotic and futuristic, but fiery orange and deep blue hues, dual-toned blonde features, softer textures and intriguing layering also find their moment to shine.
All the way from the UK, this is SCI-TEX.
