To the (rather frightening) tune of a confetti explosion, Caterina Di Biase took the stage on Sunday night to accept the Australian Hair Fashion Awards (AHFAs) title of Australian Hairdresser of the year. Highly coveted and not given out lightly (her competition included some of the industry’s elite hairdressers), Caterina won on the basis of her enthralling Fusion collection – and here we have that collection for you in full.

The Fusion collection is just that, blending East and West into modern, editorial punk. For East, the inspiration was a Chinese Vogue feature, where Chinese model Fei Sun modelled Haute Couture and explored fetish-inspired fashion. The West facet draws from Vogue Australia, particularly a feature titled ‘Madonna and Child – Good Genes’, from the August 2015 issue that showcased Ashleigh Good and her daughter in striking fashion pieces.

The hair utilises short textures, sculptural precision and graphic fringes to evoke a sense of seduction and feminine strength.

See the full collection below and be inspired to launch your own assault on the title next year.
