Aussie, Aussie, Aussie! Our own Australian delegate, Jacky Chan of Oscar Oscar Salons, Chadstone in Melbourne, has done Australia extremely proud, winning the first ever International Collection of the Year award at the esteemed British Hairdressing Awards in London this week. Jacky collected his award live after impressing a global powerhouse of judges with this alluring collection, and beat entrants and then finalists from around the world to win this significant accolade.

“To win is so unexpected, but I’m over the moon,” Jacky enthused. “Thank you to everyone’s support back at home, especially my Oscar Oscar salon family and my business partner Oscar Cullinan for his years of continued mentoring and support. We’ve had some fantastic success as a company; my partner who is with me tonight was also a finalist in the same category! It’s great to be able to celebrate this achievement with him. I can’t emphasise enough how winning this award is such a wonderful surprise! It feels fantastic.”

His collection of eight images emotively played with shape and form under a black and white palette, experimenting with texture, pristine curls, height and shape, various lengths and so much more. Stripping the images of colour, the eye is immediately drawn to the technical prowess Jacky shows off with perfection. The result is evident – audacious techniques mixed with raw and pure beauty.

Now that the award is up and running and dominated by Australian talent, it’s time to be inspired and maybe submit your own work for judging next year. Until then, allow Jacky’s award winning collection to motivate you creatively.
