Believing that your hair is your best accessory, Styleicons spends five minutes with blogger Christina Butcher of Hair Romance.
Christina Butcher of Hair Romance
What is your blog called? How did you come up with the name?
My blog, which I started in September 2010, is called ‘Hair Romance’ because I love hair. Actually I used to hate my hair but a haircut changed my life. I met my husband and my hairdresser in the same street and that’s where my hair romance began.
What is your blog about?
Hair Romance is all about the hair. Last year a colleague said my hair deserved a daily blog and I laughed at the idea but after I mentioned it to some friends it started to take on a life of its own. I talk about hair trends, review products, offer hair style advice and my tutorials are the most popular posts.
Do you blog full-time or part time?
I quit my job in design management last year to follow my passion for photography. Hair Romance has really taken off this year and is becoming more full time!
What is the best thing about blogging?
The immediacy – I love the comments and emails I receive from readers. There’s a great community of bloggers online and it has created some fantastic opportunities for my photography.
What have you been involved in recently?
I was thrilled to recently be included in the top five beauty blogs on Vogue.com.au and I have just launched my first e-book of hair tutorials ‘30 Days of Twist and Pin Hairstyles’ which is going really well. I have also reported on the hair backstage at RAFW and Hair Expo.
Any last words?
Your hair is your best accessory. Love what you’ve got and have fun with your hair.
