Chambord, alongside charity partner Fashion Targets Breast Cancer, has announced ten of fashion’s leading lights to be commissioned for the Chambord Shine Awards.

Aje, Ben Smith, Carlos Bouman, Dhini Pararajasingham, Sonya Kraan, Michelle Czech, Lia Tsimos, Ruby Smallbone, Alvin Manalo and Therese Rawsthorne all survived the rigorous application process and will go on to design a Chambord-inspired gown.

The design brief for the award this year is to create an outfit inspired by one of the signature Chambord Cocktails: Cham Cham, French Martini, Chambord No 5 or Chambord Fruit Cup. Each designer has $1000 to bring their design to life – a creation that must reflect Chambord’s sophistication and high fashion status.

“We are thrilled to have had so many entries of such a high calibre this year; it has made narrowing down the submissions really tough,” said Kate Mansour, Chambord Brand Manager. “It will be exciting to see how each of these individual styles is represented on the catwalk.”

The creations will be showcased at the awards night on October 20 by models from the FTBC Mod Squad with the winning design featured in a double page spread in Marie Claire’s February 2010 issue.

While the award is only in its second year running, last year’s successful launch featured finalists including Romance was Born, Ben Pollitt, Carl Kapp and Antipodium – all of whom are now firm members of the next generation of Australian designers and certainly ones to watch.
