Providing hair direction for almost 30 shows, L’Oréal Professionnel leant their styling skills at Perth Fashion Festival recently which saw designers such as Wheels and Dollbaby and Ruth Tarvydas wow crowds with the latest spring/summer looks.
Perth Fashion Festival hit Western Australia’s capital in early September showcasing the best of WA design and for the first time ever, L’Oréal Professionnel was the official hair partner of the event with Mark Thompson, L’Oréal Professionnel Artistic Events Manager, at the helm.
Strengthening their alignment with the fashion industry, the team created a myriad of on-trend looks using L’Oréal Professionnel’s key styling brands Tecni-art and Texture Expert. “The Perth fashion scene is buzzing at the moment and there’s a great line up of models and designers to work with. The hair is going to be a mix of elegant couture styles and very contemporary designs that are fun, sassy and chic,” said Mark Thompson.
Wheels and Dollbaby
Thompson leant his considerable talents to industry veteran Ruth Tarvydas’ show with a series of embellished rockabilly quiffs. “The theme of the collection was illusion so I wanted to create a sense of glamour and intrigue with the hair. Ruth wanted multi dimension and contrasting texture, so different retro influences were used to create this but with a very contemporary feel. We had a 40s victory roll, 70s crimping and a rockabilly quiff – this way from any angle the style looked different on each model,” said Thompson.
Wheels and Dollbaby
Hair at the Wheels & Dollbaby show referenced the polished glamour of bygone screen stars with. “The Wheels and Dollbaby show was all about classic Hollywood glamour with sumptuous full waves and strong references to the femme fatale woman and classic screen sirens from the 40s and 50s like Ava Gardener, Rita Hayworth and Lana Turner,” said Thompson.
