Australian fashion designer Rachel Gilbert held an intimate showing of her Spring/Summer 09/10 collection at the tail-end of fashion week on Tuesday May 5 at Sydney’s Hemmesphere.
Titled ‘Whisper my Illusion’, the collection featured Gilbert’s signature embellished evening gowns and cocktail gowns alongside kaftans, maxi dresses and Grecian inspired red carpet numbers.
Editors, stylists, buyers, models and the A-list took in the parade while munching on gourmet canapés, cocktails and taking in the exquisite designs of Gilbert who learnt the trade heading up Nicky Hilton’s Chick label and working alongside iconic Australian designer Lisa Ho. Gilbert’s threads are stocked in over 45 locations around Australia.
The model’s glamorous hair looks were created by the award winning hairdresser Pierre Haddad who has just opened a salon in Sydney’s Hilton Hotel.
Haddad is known for having brought a range of new hair technologies to Australia including Thermal Reconditioning, Latino Hair Straightening and is constantly researching the latest in hair extension trends and techniques.
Some of the guests present at the event were actor Justin Melvey, model April Rose Pengilly and singer Jessica Mauboy who closed the show with a knock out rendition of her hit single ‘Burn’.
Guests walked away with luxury goody bags containing a number of indulgent gifts from the event sponsors including a gift voucher for designer website Frockshop, a complimentary blowdry at Pierre Haddad’s salon, earrings from Sassi Jewels and bottles of Santa Vittoria fruit nectar.
