On Monday 29 April 2013, Leona Edmiston launched her Summer 2013 collection at Catalina Restaurant, Rose Bay with 100 of Sydney’s top fashion identities and media in an evening of overwhelming luxury and decadence, writes Stavroula Papadopoulos.
Catalina was transformed, emulating the glamour of the Cote D’Azur, as guests including Wayne Cooper, Susie Porter and Jayson Brunsdon, were treated to sumptuous canapés before the mesmerising runway show. Ten models showcased Leona’s favourite thirty looks from the new collection that included a stand out evening wear section.
Sloans of Lane Cove owner and director, Scott Sloan, created sexy and chic hair for the models, highlighting the vast array of Schwarzkopf professional products. In keeping with the theme of the collection, Scott needed to ensure that the hair conveyed the style and effortless glamour of the French Riviera.
“We kept the hair quite clean and sleek with a ponytail that hinted at a sixties influence through using a bit of height in the back. Ponytails are always on trend, but it was nice to mix this one up a bit to really give it a glamorous edge. Smooth finishes and wrapped bases for this variation ensured the look was ultra-chic and feminine, but adding volume to the crown and sweeping the front across the forehead to provide just a glimpse of earlobe gives the look one of effortless chic – so very French!” said Scott.
The makeup was kept fresh, modern and understated with MAC’s Jill Vuibureta embracing the sun kissed tones of summer to create the perfect bronzed palette. “We’ve kept the skin quite natural and dewy teamed with extravagant, long lashes with a beautiful pop of coral on the lips, cheeks and nails,” said Jill. Together they effectively captured the Leona Edmiston girl of summer – stylish, sophisticated and international.
