Innovation and inspiration were central to the 2019 Australian Hair Fashion Awards so it made perfect sense that the evening partnered with Dyson, heralding their hair tools and showing off the magic that can be made when they’re wielded with skill. The brand’s incredible group of styling ambassadors was together backstage for the first time, joining forces to create an editorial show like no other to kick off the night.
Five names used to taking the stage on awards nights – hair industry legends and award winners in their own right, Damien Rinaldo, Renya Xydis, Frank Apostolopoulos, Jayne Wild and Joey Scandizzo – were the talents creating the looks. The opening artistic show from Dyson showed the audience unique and advanced looks, with each artist creating three distinct styles that utilised bold hair structures, braids, hair weaving and plenty of glitter.
Each hairdresser showed off their unique Avant Garde and editorial skill set. As an example, Frank’s looks played with silver in cutting-edge, space-age styles, while Joey gave new meaning to the high ponytail with glitter sections and towering styled structures. Jayne utilised billowing editorial shapes in longer hair looks and Damien kicked off the show with his trademark intricate weaving, with every skilled detail blown up on the big screen, as well as bold styles that defied gravity in their movement. Renya closed the show with hero bright glitter pink looks, inspiring hairdressers to be bolder and more creative – we would have expected nothing less.
It wasn’t just in the backstage styling suites that Dyson made an impact on the glamorous night. The brand also talked through the importance of their tools and their engineering expertise, with Dyson engineer Sam Burrowes and education manager Ludmilla Hlinovky taking to the stage to present awards and discuss the brand. The pair heralded the brilliance and drive of James Dyson, and gave special mention to the iconic juggernaut’s hair tools, namely the Dyson SupersonicTM, Dyson SupersonicTM Pro Edition and the Dyson AirwrapTM styling tool.
The Dyson Supersonic Pro also came home a champion on the night, winning the coveted award for Most Innovative Hair Tool, the power of which was evidenced by the skills displayed that evening. The tool is specifically developed for hairdressers to create inspirational styles backstage, on set or in salon, with ease and efficiency always front of mind.
Showcasing that Dyson puts the ability into the hairdresser’s hand with innovation, engineering skill and a focus on the professional salon industry, Dyson’s presence at the Australian Hair Fashion Awards made an impact.
