Akin to a neighbourhood gastro pub, The Sugarmill is the latest addition to the colourful streetscape of Kings Cross.
With one look at the gourmet pub grub on offer, the outdoor terrace and lush interior, it’s apparent that The Sugarmill is not your average local drinking hole.
Interior detailing such as vintage ochre wall tiling, raw travertine flooring, dark stained timber, feature light fittings and a discerning mix of furniture create a boho feel fit that is as fit for sneakers as it is for stilettos.
Food is served all day until 5am – spicy fried squid, a selection of salads and antipasto, Croque-Monsieurs, $10 steaks and late-night hot dogs ensure there’s something to tickle every tastebud.
For those of you seeking more opulent surrounds and a cocktail list that rivals the best, you can leave The Sugarmill and head upstairs to the late-night cocktail lounge Kit and Kaboodle that resides above.
Offering just what its name suggests, multi-coloured 60’s carpet swirls with dark wood panelling, botanical light fittings, crystal chandeliers, a cocktail of fabrics, textures and a collection of chairs that would do Buckingham Palace proud.
