Behind the scenes with Fruition

With a strong affinity to the musical genre of rock and roll, Craig Smith’s winning AHFA collection AMP (for Fruition salon, QLD) was a representation of street youth culture. “Music is the art of my environment and is hugely influential in the world of hair fashion. By projecting an image of youth, the collection had a definite raw and spirited feel with high levels of energy and movement,” said Craig. “For me this shoot depicted a different kind of ‘modern idol’ a set of strong and independent young rock stars who can stand the test of time and are totally resilient to whimsical fashion changes.”

The collection was produced in classic black and white to provide emphasis to a strong styling element with the use of silhouette playing a key role in creating a sense of moodiness for the overall look. Additionally, Fruition’s Kate Rawnsley also utilised this shoot for her collection Neon Fluidity which also made the finals of the AHFA Colourist of the Year category
