In an event that showcased the country’s leading young talents to an eager audience of salon professionals, the GenNext show was an absolute highlight of Hair Expo 2013.

FASHION VISIONAIRES – Sloans Creative Team
Join the Sloans Creative Team in their bespoke salute to four of the fashion pantheon’s most infamous style icons. From the exquisite tailoring of Yves-Saint Laurent to the lavish embellishments of Alexander McQueen, this elegant showpiece will definitely bring a touch of Sloans glamour to the Gen Next arena.
KA-POW! – Jo Bellamy Hair
Feel the kapow and immerse yourself in a contemporary world of pop art and comic strips with Jo Bellamy Hair’s colourful and expressive interpretation of the modern day search for that crash bam moment… the feeling you get when you meet ‘the one’… that special someone you really zing with.
KALEIDOSCOPE – L’Oréal Professionnel i-D Team
Kaleidoscope will take you on a mystical journey of the evolution of colour and explores a fairy-tale story of a dark world embroider by light giving birth to the colour palette and to all brilliant colours. The dynamic i-D Artists who are part of an esteemed development program, worked together on the entire production of this show from the initial concepts, staging elements, wardrobe selection, makeup design to the hair looks, the Gen Next show is the principle project for the i-D Artists in their second year.
HER NAME WAS LOLA . . . – Pivot Point Academies
Bringing to life an undisputed classic tragedy, the student body of the Pivot Point Academy interpret and produce a visual showcase with a twist. A show stopping student production in honour of young designers, generation next and the amazing talent that is the future of our industry.
URBAN TRIBES – George Garcia, Redken International Guest Artist
George Garcia explores different subcultures from Goth to Glam Rock, and how sub cultural influences affect fashion and trends in hair. The mixture of technical skill and 20 years of extensive colour and product knowledge makes George Garcia one of Redken’s most sought after artists.
WE’RE ALL MAD HERE… – The Art of Hair
Sarah Jane Neale and The Art of Hair team present a quirky twist on Tim Burton’s movie Alice in Wonderland. A mix of traditional characters, Mad Hatter, Rabbit and a variety of new ones enter into the mix but in this show the most peculiar and wacky is Alice who will leave you spellbound and speechless.
THE COLOUR’S INSIDE HER – Mathew Johnson, Abache
It is the organic synergy of Colour and Life, Nature and Beauty, Human and Creature. Come into our world where Arctic whites are taken in by the creatures of colour, to evolve into a seductive entity that is life. DIGITAL TIGI – TIGI Creative Team
We wanted something that no one else had done at expo before – something that would impress, wow, and make people think. As it was our session team, we wanted the hair to have a more editorial feel rather than fantasy/avant-guard feel. It was about the whole show, not just the hair. Fashion and hair should compliment each other and thats what we proved with our show “Digital”.

GenNext Project team had a once in a lifetime opportunity to feature their hair creations alongside some of Australia’s brightest young stars, with the incredible Sharon Blain as their mentor.
