Held at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre on Saturday the 8th June 2013, the ELEVEN Australia Co-Creative Director, Joey, wowed the audience with a three-part runway performance. The show – also sponsored by Wella Professionals – kicked off with a theatrical performance which included models wearing Mohican warrior outfits with elaborate hair and headpieces created by Scandizzo and his team.
“Working in an industry that reflects fashion trends can prove to be hard when you want to come up with styles that have never been seen,” said Scandizzo. “We really wanted to highlight the different elements that make up a great design, whether it was from fashion, digital design, music or theatre.”
The second part of the show sent the audience on a journey of geometric shapes with a black, white and dark blue theme. Metallic face masks and scultured hair created a dark mood, while the models trailed the runways to an electric violin played live by Jonathan Dreyfus.
Wrapping up the show, Scandizzo focused on full colour. Bold primary colours were brought to life through a modern take on the Indian holi festival with Scandizzo throwing handfuls of holi powder onto models as they walked the runway.
“Our aim for this show was to inspire beyond the styles we see in fashion magazines and on runways. It was about creating a vision that might not entirely be new to the eye but new to the way we think as artists,” said Scandizzo.
