Apprentices have completed the first round of new Boot Camp training at TAFE NSW – Sydney TAFE with workplace-ready skills.
“Salon employers are excited because their apprentices’ skills have been developed in a shorter period of time at the Boot Camp,” Head Teacher of Hairdressing at the Sydney TAFE – Ultimo Campus, Donna Colombini said. “Bootcamp training is an exciting fast paced program designed to kick-start hairdressing skill development.”
Donna said that were are many options for apprentice training.
The one day per week per term has been the traditional method, however the team at Sydney TAFE -Ultimo Campus have developed the NEW fast-track Boot Camp option which requires apprentices to attend three days per week for three weeks.
The training at Boot Camp is hands on, regimented and repetitive to enable the skills to be developed in a shorter intensive period of time.
“The results of the first round of Boot Camps have been outstanding,” Donna stated. “We introduced this intensive method of training to better suit the needs of Gen Y and Millennial apprentices, but we are pleased to say that it is benefitting salon business, by providing a motivated and skilled apprentice who is ready to have the confidence to work on the salon floor.”
