For the first time in its 36-year history, the British Hairdressing Awards (BHAs), renowned as a landmark event in the global hairdressing calendar, is moving online. The renowned event, sponsored by Schwarzkopf Professional, will go live with a global audience to announce the esteemed winners.
“As the prospect of ‘live’ events continues to be shrouded with uncertainty, we have made the positive decision to keep to our date of Monday 30th November and in the style of the world’s biggest events in 2020, we shall hold the awards online,” said HJ’s executive director Jayne LewisOrr. “With the British Hairdressing Awards being the hairdressing event of the year, we feel strongly that it should go ahead and we are confident we can still celebrate together but in the 2020 way.”
Each year, the BHAs have been hosted in London at the Great Room at the Grosvenor House Hotel, hosting 2000 guests and 100 finalists in 17 categories, with the pinnacle category being announced as British Hairdresser of the Year. The change this year reflects the necessities of 2020, showcasing the nation’s immense creativity to a more dispersed audience and putting artistry first no matter the circumstance.
“We know that together we shall make this event one to remember for all of the right reasons, and we look forward to a global and unlimited audience joining us to celebrate the very best of British hairdressing,” shared Julian Crane, general manager Henkel Beauty Care UK & Ireland. “This is a chance to reach more people and celebrate British hairdressing worldwide and we are excited to be part of this for the 36th year!”
