Hairdressing life is a little different to usual work life, let’s be honest, and there are a handful of work principles that simply don’t apply to the salon.
The idea of work being boring, uncreative and rigid isn’t true for hairdressers who are able to be their most artistic, friendly and creative selves, so we’re calling out the work-related sayings that just don’t compute for the hairdressing world.
TGIF
Saturday is a big day in salon, so who really needs a Friday night? It’s much more like “Thank God It’s Sunday” for hairdressers.
Working 9 to 5
The 9 to 5 doesn’t exist for hairdressers, it’s from first client to last client, whatever time that may be, sorry Dolly Parton.
Don’t mix personal and business
Work and leisure are often touted as separate entities, but in a hairdressing field, where you’re often best friends with your co-workers and even close with your beloved clients, that lines start to blur.
Work is boring
A job where you get to unleash your inner artist and follow your craft and passion is thankfully less boring than more uncreative counterparts.
You don’t have to love your job
But what if you do? Hairdressers are able to make people feel happy and better about themselves, which is always fulfilling, lean into their artistry, make friends in the chair and behind it and become a true salon family. Best job ever? We think so.
What usual work principles don’t apply to you?
