Presenting their highly anticipated Resort collection at Afterpay Australian Fashion Week (AAFW), Oroton took the audience on a nostalgic journey, complemented by effortless hair looks by O&M, writes Ashleigh Matheson.
Creative director Sophie Holt put together a 60s inspired collection championing embroidery, hand-stitching, utilitarian silhouettes, structured accessories, and charming motifs.
With the notion of escapism becoming a consistent theme throughout the show, hair director John Pulitano worked in creating organic, effortlessly styled hair looks.
“The whole idea was that you needed to make the hair look lifted, but still with that nice strength and masculinity,” John explained. “We applied Atonic into dry roots and created the look that way, we then went through and sprayed it with some spray wax. We also just taped the ends in some of the model’s heads to get more of a flat wave.”
Full of beautiful, flowing textures John explained that “sometimes when working with a collection like that you want to add an edge to it, we have to avoid going too pretty because then it pretties everything up.”
The key ingredient in cultivating these ‘cool-girl’ hair looks was O&M’s W Spray, sung in high praises.
