Hair Festival is taking over Sydney in mere days and we can’t wait to reconnect the industry over some of its absolute core values – education, innovation, competition and (the main one, let’s be honest) partying.
Hair Festival will take place at Carriageworks (with the Wonderland party offsite at the Australian National Maritime Museum) over Sunday and Monday June 12 and 13 – after the industry has been kept apart for too long, we can’t believe the wait is finally over!
There are so many things we can’t wait to see and do over the Queen’s Birthday long weekend, here is our list of the 7 things we are anticipating seeing the most.
1. The hair industry!
That’s right, amidst all the inspiring shows, speakers, brands and more, we mostly can’t wait to see the hairdressing community back together again. For an industry built on camaraderie, our inherently social nature as hairdressers and real friendships and relationships that often span beyond states or continents, this reunion is long overdue, and Hair Festival is the ideal, comprehensive meeting place for a salon industry reunited.
2. Inspiring speakers
Whether in the halls of the Festival Education Sessions – where both creative and business education will flourish – or at Sunday’s dedicated all-day REALTalk event, where panels and keynote speakers will specifically elevate business for salon owners and managers, we’re prepared to be inspired. Check out the education and REALTalk schedules to see what classes really suit your needs and then book by the session, group of sessions and half or full day for REALTalk to ensure the best experience for you.
3. New products and innovations
After two years of lockdowns and border closures, the vendors on the expo floor (AKA the MarketPlace) have a bevy of innovations waiting to hit the industry. From new products across salons and barbershops, to tools and technologies from the industry’s biggest brands, as well as business innovations, sustainability focuses and so much more, the floor is the proverbial candy shop to your inner hairdressing child. Check out all the vendors here.
4. The Hubs
When walking through this shopping oasis, you’re likely to want a place to meet a friend (or two, or five), put your feet up, see a motivating demonstration and take a break from it all. The MarketPlace’s dedicated Festival Hub, Barber Hub and Business Hub beckon as your places to grab a coffee, immerse yourself in all things men or gain some savvy business advice, respectively. Again, this is all part of the FREE MarketPlace. Don’t miss it.
5. Entertainment
It may often be our role to put hair up, but this weekend we will be definitively letting it down, and the Festival Wonderland party is your place to do that. Held over a breathtaking view of Darling Harbour, you can expect entertainment, installations, food and drinks on Sunday night at this absolutely unmissable party.
6. A return to live competitions
We love seeing hairdressers in their element, competing for gold and the Hair Festival trophy amidst overflowing prize packs. At Hair Festival, hairdressers can compete in editorial, team, barber and colour challenges – and there’s still more than enough time to sign up if you’ve been toying with taking your shot. Go, go, go!
7. Sydney
Set in Sydney’s iconic Carriageworks, and with Wonderland at the renowned Australian National Maritime Museum in Darling Harbour, Hair Festival is a great opportunity to get away for the ideal working holiday. Come up early to enjoy the Saturday or take a couple of days after, it will be a frenetic and worthwhile few days at Hair Festival and beyond. Discover venue information and partnered accommodation opportunities online.
We’re so excited to see brands, educators, attendees and the hairdressing community at large through the doors of Carriageworks this weekend. Discover the myriad of ticketing options where you can see it all at a reduced price with the All-Event Pass, or focus on Wonderland, education sessions, REALTalk and more, all in customisable options.
So call a hairdressing friend, get the salon team together and make this Hair Festival weekend one to remember. See you soon!
