As 2020 goes, this year’s Emmys (or the #Pandemmys) were virtual, but a lack of red carpet didn’t stop Hollywood from getting glammed up and setting trends. Aside from a historic Schitt’s Creek comedy sweep and more COVID jokes than you could count from the A-list hosts, we were looking at the hair looks that came to us on Instagram and Zoom, to keep the glamour jumping through the screen. Considering these celebs are pretty much dressed to the nines in their own homes, we can say with assurance that they’re stepping it up a couple of notches from the usual work from home uniform (that is, pyjamas and sweat pants).
Among the usual, classic glamour, here are 6 unique looks we loved.
1. Yvonne Orji
The actress and comedian had the symbol for Black Lives Matter artfully designed into her buzz cut hair style, proving hair can really make a literal statement, and making her beauty look that much more powerful.
2. H.E.R.
The singer-songwriter dazzled up a sleek braid with some actual bling that truly glistened.
3. Kerry Washington
We’ve seen this acting star in so many different hair looks on the red carpet, from voluminous curls, to shaggy ponytails and sleek waves, and we always appreciate her desire to switch it up. This year it was a chic bob that showed up to the virtual carpet, in all its trending glory.
4. Yara Shahidi

It was all about sleek, meticulous braids and little details for this actress, complementing volume, feathers and texture in her fashion styling of choice.
5. Laverne Cox
We were living for the subtle lilac hues in this textured bob, which Laverne Cox showed off in her presenting role and in several posts on social media.
