Schwarzkopf Professional brought back the Wafting Technique for We are Kindred at Afterpay Australian Fashion Week 2022, with the show’s Hair Director Travis Balcke creating brushed-out waves tailored to each model to hero individual beauty and highlight natural volume as a trend. Taking place on a vast grass runway on the second day of Fashion Week, the Wafting Technique took centre stage.
“It’s a skill in and of itself to create hair that looks both elegant and beautiful, without looking too over-styled or over the top,” Travis explained. “We Are Kindred and I decided to focus on a look that brought forward the natural beauty of every model – a perfect everyday look that amplifies the clothing vision.”
“We Are Kindred is the kind of girl who doesn’t take fashion too seriously, so we interpreted that girl into the hair look as well, we wanted it to be something that was quite lived in and fabulous and fun, but also not taking things too seriously, and that’s where we came up with the style,” he continued.
The new Schwarzkopf Professional Session Label range of 12 innovative, layer-worthy, super-lightweight formulas were backstage essentials.
Part garden party, part editorial showcase, We Are Kindred was once again a must-see runway presentation, in both fashion and hair.
Get the look – brushed out beauty waves:
- Prep the hair using Session Label The Thickener on the roots, and Session Label The Miracle on the mid-lengths and ends. The Miracle is used to provide heat protection and to condition the hair.
- Blow dry the hair to create volume with the natural parting.
- Use a curling iron to create texture, volume and movement in the hair. Hold the curling iron horizontally to create movement and volume away from the head.
- Flipping the hair upside down, use Session Label The Texturiser on roots to ends to create volume.
- Use Session Label The Powder on the roots to create additional volume.
- Set the hair using Session Label The Flexible.
