Albus Lumen presented their Phase II Resort ’24 collection at Afterpay Australian Fashion Week, with styling by O&M and Travis Balcke, as supported by Travis Bandiera. Tailored looks on 40 models were inspired by the collection itself, with the hero look titled Evaluated Ponytail.
“I wanted to create a very tailored and graphic look, but at the same time, something effortlessly chic and elegant,” Travis Balcke said. “The look is an evolution of the ponytail, with face framing to add strength to the look and a design element.”
“The collection has lots of different textures, lots of shine and combinations of matte and shine finishes, so we incorporated that into the hair by having a wet and dry finish, we wanted to give something more simple, the clothes speak for themselves and we didn’t want to do anything too Avant Garde, we wanted it to look sexy and narrowed and creating the illusion of a ponytail without doing a typical ponytail that’s been seen before,” he continued.
The brand’s Know Knott Detangler, Project Sukuroi Gold Smoothing Balm, Queenie Firm Hold Hairspray and Frizzy Logic Shine Spray were all used to create the looks that spanned across the gender spectrum.
“Albus Lumen Resort 24 Collection was inspired by a moody cloudy and misty day,” explained designer, Marina Afonina. “I envisioned the look to be quite sculptural and strong to highlight the clothing in our collection. O&M felt like the right fit for our brand partner as their products perfectly aligned with our brief of effortlessly modern and sophisticated.”
Get the look:
- Blow out the hair smooth with a centre part using O&M Know Knott Detangler and Project Sukuroi Gold Smoothing Balm.
- Iron the hair straight.
- Place a thin braid along the hair line at the back of the ear on each side (this will be used in securing the hair but not seen).
- Using O&M Original Queenie Firm Hold Hairspray, apply section by section from the centre part to the back of the ear in the root area, then smooth behind the ear creating a strong shape on the hairline.
- Smooth the remainder of the hair using O&M Frizzy Logic Shine Spray, and lastly secure in the back using the braids to anchor the elastic.
