Models stepped out of the proverbial ocean and onto the runway for Speed at Afterpay Australian Fashion Week, with Wella and hair director Renya Xydis creating hair pieces over a period of several weeks to evoke images of fish scales, serpents and mermaids, as well ‘The Swirl’ wet look for a truly oceanic vibe. Speed’s collection, titled Tears of the Oasis, mimicked this natural theme, as inspired by the lush beauty of the Australian Daintree Rainforest – Kaba Kada.
The fashion show was sectioned into three segments, which each featured a different element from the Daintree Rainforest and which were all complemented by the daring, dramatic looks from Wella.
The brand’s Color Fresh Mask Creations, especially in tones such as Neverseen Green and New Blue, offered pops of colour. Wella’s EIMI Perfect Setting, Super Set, Mistify Me Strong and Sculpt Force were essential styling tools.
Coloured extensions with intricate detailing were used for half the looks, while the other half had the -stepped-out-of-the-ocean style wet look.
“Inspired by the beautiful ocean surroundings and rainbow serpents, hair was vibrant and colourful. We used a combination of blues and green hues to encapsulate the beauty of the Daintree,” Renya said.
