Box Hill Institute to Relaunch Hairdressing Faculty

There’s a new agenda and education model redefining hairdressing education at Melbourne’s Box Hill Institute, and the institution is hosting a launch event on Tuesday March 13 to celebrate. The event will preview all the changes to come for the renowned hairdressing faculty, including a contemporary barbershop training facility, new teaching formats, an augmented reality concept and a fresh model of workplace assessment.

The famous education house is debuting a major change to its beauty content, including a modern skin clinic to offer the latest cosmeceutical treatments like neurotoxins, IPL and laser treatments and new hairdressing teachers such as the award-winning Olivia Zynevych and David Martin.

The re-launch is being led by a certifiable legend in the Australian hairdressing education sphere, Jane Trewin, who has come on as Box Hill Institute’s new Executive Director of Education Delivery. After reinventing the hairdressing education at Sydney TAFE, Jane’s expertise will ensure Box Hill offers the most modern, relevant and diverse beauty education possible.

“I intend to make our hairdressing faculty the best in Australia,” she said. “The purpose of these initiatives is to attract more people into the industry and I intend to have industry involvement in every aspect of our curriculum. Student exposure to leading companies and industry practitioners will influence their level of professionalism and create pathways into careers.”

The launch event will also debut the institute’s new partnership with Schwarzkopf, which will see the brand locate their industry training rooms at the Box Hill Institute.

Sharon Blain will be a notable special guest at the launch event. The acclaimed educator and long hair stylist recently led a photoshoot for students and teachers at the institute, with makeup artist and hairdresser Sarah Laidlaw, stylist Courtney Humphries, designer Tess Whitford and photographer Milos Mlynarik. She will bring this support and collaboration to the launch event itself.

If you’re looking for hairdressing education at its most unique, refreshing and innovative, you’ve found that at the Box Hill Institute. Discover the changes for yourself on March 13.
