This British Hairdressing Awards, sponsored by Schwarzkopf Professional, are an iconic ode to the international hairdressing community and highlight British talents on a platform viewed all over the world. Now there’s a chance for Aussies to get in on the action, with a new category titled International Collection of the Year.
The category is open to all qualified hairdressers with a regular client column, who work outside of the UK in a commercial environment and have done so for at least three years (excluding training). To enter, these hairdressers must submit four images created during the last 12 months to show off their skilful, trending and inspirational aesthetic.
“British hairdressing has long been considered the best in the world and HJ’s British Hairdressing Awards, sponsored by Schwarzkopf Professional, has always sought to recognise that talent,” said HJ’s executive director, Jayne Lewis Orr. “We’re extremely excited to now be opening up the awards to a global audience, and can’t wait to see the work put forward by our international peers. As well as opening up the awards to a new audience, our new International category will also serve to raise the awareness of excellence around the world.”
The awards are in their 34th year and have a history of catapulting and establishing the careers of many now well-known hair legends. The exposure and platform puts the work of the finalists and winners in front of the eyes of hundreds of thousands of social media users and industry members. The British Hairdresser of the Year nominees for 2019 have already been announced, and include such massive names as Darren Ambrose, Sally Brooks, Errol Douglas, Robert Eaton, Gary Hooker and Michael Young, Adam Reed, Cos Sakkas, Angelo Seminara and Eugene Souleiman.
“We’re always looking at ways to evolve the British Hairdressing Awards, sponsored by Schwarzkopf Professional,” Jayne said. “The new Trend Image and International Collection of the Year categories open up the reach of the awards to even more people, and we’re excited to see all of the new names making their mark with entries. These new categories allow the event to continue to grow and showcase the very best in regional and specialist hairdressing. We can’t wait to see everyone’s entries!”
The first round deadline is next Friday, June 21, so choose your best images created within the year, go online and submit your work for consideration. Let’s show the BHAs the beauty and value of Australian hair!
