Philanthropic organisation Community Hair Project hosted a seasonal day to deliver hair services for disadvantaged communities, partnering with brands and other organisations to offer a comprehensive event. The charity hosts these events every two months, taking to Sydney’s Price Alfred Park in Redfern to deliver much needed hair cutting and pampering to the local disadvantaged community.
While delivering these crucial services, Community Hair Project has teamed up with a myriad of groups to further the cause. The charitable events add on to the Plates for Mates initiatives that provide hot meals and clothes for these communities every Sunday, while the organisation Orange Sky provides showers and clothes cleaning and drying facilities. Furthermore, The Voice organisation are available to listen and offer support and a cup of tea, to aid against isolation and help those in vulnerable circumstances.
At this event, partnering hair brands helped out as well. Electricals juggernaut Dyson was there as a sponsor in support and providing products such as bath towels, while Jan from Happy Day Brushes donated brushes to everyone who was at the event.
Community Hair Project has extended its services and operations and is now conducting education in remote locations to train indigenous Australians and Torres Strait Islander communities in order to learn these serviceable skills. With government assistance, a team of ambassadors with the organisation is making an important difference in helping communities feel cared for and generating new career paths across the country.
