L’Oréal Professionnel Colour Trophy is well and truly underway for 2019, and while that may sound far into the future, the key dates are actually drawing near. Entries are already open and closing on August 31, so you still have time to create a stellar colour look and enter it online.
The 2018 event marked a return to Australia for long-running hair competition after a 7 year absence, and it was received with great success as it crowned Wendy Gunn the 2018 winner. The event ranged to millions of people in media impressions and overall reach, being shared widely in professional and consumer hair and beauty publications and on influential social media accounts, such as that of special guests Dannii Minogue and Joel Creasey.
That event was a months-long celebration of artistry, colour and the hairdressing community at large, and 2019 will be no different. Putting fashion as the hair and colour muse, the competition is once again focused on technical mastery, creativity and trends-based hair skills. Prizes are valued up to $150,000 and include overseas trips, editorial spreads, trophies, exposure and more. The major Colour trophy competition awards first, second and third place medallists, and there’s a Rising Star award for emerging talents.
The first round of submissions has an illustrious judging panel to survey them, with UK hairdressing legends Ken Picton, Paul Dennison, Jack Howard, Jamie Brooks and Sally Books, as well as Shelley Gregory from the US and Matthew Collins from Canada making up the panel.
The important dates are rapidly approaching, with semi-finals set to kick off in October. South Australia and Tasmania will start off on October 14, with Western Australia and the Northern Territory following on October 16, then Queensland on October 21, New South Wales and Australian Capital Territory on October 23 and Victoria on October 29. The grand final will take place in Melbourne on February 25 in another important night for the industry.
Next could be your year to create your looks live and take to the stage to make your speech and claim your prize. It’s an experience that could catapult your career at any stage. Take a shot and enter now!
