DCI Education is showing their commitment to the industry and its inspiring members with the all-new Gino Fossano scholarship, launching this year for a start in 2019. The brand’s first ever scholarship is valued at $2600 and supports the new generation of Australian hairdressers in Gino’s wonderful memory.
Gino was a beloved industry member for 40 years before losing a long and tragic battle with cancer earlier this year. He was renowned for his work ethic, customer service and innate ability to be the life of the party, making the impossible possible and inspiring those around him. Gino always sought to fit clients in, even at the sacrifice of his own personal time, created a team of passionate hairdressers around him and made everyone who came into contact with him feel like family. With this extraordinary mentality, he opened Portfolio Hair in Sydney’s Northern Beaches in 1983, after getting his start in hairdressing years earlier, and grew the salon to 25 staff.
The scholarship will be awarded to one apprentice hairdresser (1st to 3rd year) per year in NSW, QLD, VIC, WA & ACT each. These hairdressers will evokes these excellent qualities of a positive attitude, true care for your clients and team members and a work ethic that ensures nothing is impossible.
Each winner will receive a spot on the 2019 DCI Elevate Program in their city, which consists of 10 monthly 3 hour workshops. Students will learn precise and expensive cutting techniques, starting in February through to November 2019. Applications close on December 15 2018.
