If you’re an apprentice or a recently qualified hairdresser with editorial images the world needs to see, an important opportunity has come your way. Welcome the 2019 iteration of The Star competition, facilitated by AHC Youthworx and Hair Shots 2 The World to earn emerging hairdressing talents free international publication.
The competition is open to apprentices and qualified hairdressers who are members of AHC Youthworx, which is entirely free to join, and offers two global PR releases for apprentices (valued at $330 each) and one for a qualified Youthworx member (valued at $650). This honour and prize was won by the incomparable Hermiz Daniel, Elle Shoemaker of Stelios Papas Toowong and Nikki Porter of Rubi Hair, in 2018.
“International publication is a great way to gain recognition, get noticed and build a brand, especially if the results are used in marketing to clients and on social media. We can’t wait to see where the new winners will go,” said Hair Shots 2 The World’s Leanne Cutler.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for all our Youthworx members to get great exposure on an international level and showcase their creative talents to the world,” agreed Sandy Chong, CEO of the Australian Hairdressing Council.
Entrants can submit their work via email@example.com, by including the applicable subject line of “Youthworx entry, Qualified/Apprentice” depending on their entry, with a low res collection of four to six images, as well as credits and inspiration. The deadline is midnight on July 1, and judging will be conducted by iconic industry members including Caterina Di Biase, Benni Tognini and Jayne Wilde and UK PR expert and ex-HJI editor, Ruth Hunsley. Winners will be announced on social media on July 8.
It’s a wonderful opportunity to push your talents out into the global editorial sphere and show the world just what you’re made of. With a few clicks of the button, your work could be in front of the eyes of editors around the world. Good luck!
