The iconic Wella Professionals TrendVision competition is once again upon us and urging industry hairdressers to convey their best creative works on camera and on stage. This year’s awards have been transformed to better reach and inspire beauty and hair lovers by offering its first-ever digital engagement plan. This will offer audiences around the world a look into the finalists’ work, go behind the scenes and experience the iconic live international event, writes McKenna Uhde.
“International TrendVision Awards (ITVA) is all about celebrating and elevating hairdressing talent and as such, it is an integral part of Wella Professionals’ commitment to elevate hairdressers and hairdressing industry,” said President of COTY Professional Beauty, Sylvie Moreau. “Over the years, we’ve been updating the format to improve its reach and impact for the competitors. This year we are taking another big step.”
Wella Professionals has hosted the TrendVision Awards over several years with each gaining a wider reach. The 2017 awards were watched by thousands worldwide, and this year, with the International TrendVision finals being held in Lisbon, viewers will be able to tune in and vote for their favourites.
Entries are now open for the national Wella TrendVision Awards ANZ event, which will take place in Queensland in September. The process closes on May 20th, with semi-finalist and finalist announcements in June before the grand finale. Judges will be looking out for the top talent in colour and visionary looks inspired by Wella Professionals’ seasonal trends. Participants will be able to enter two categories: Color Vision and Creative Vision. Entrants will be evaluated on talent and skill as well the ability to draw creativity from Wella Professionals trends as well as art, fashion and pop culture, without the use of hair pieces or wigs.
“Wella Professionals TrendVision offers a spectacular platform for true creativity, where stylists can showcase their skills and craftsmanship – no boundaries, only imagination and inspiration,” said Gina Thomas, Education Director of COTY Professional Beauty Australia and New Zealand. “Being the biggest event in our education calendar, TrendVision is an opportunity for Australia and New Zealand to be recognised at a global level, proudly showcasing our biggest talents.”p
All finalists will feature looks inspired by the brand’s SS18 Nontouring trend and will be judged by a panel of the industry’s best. Taking place in Brisbane, QLD on Setember 9th, Wella TrendVision Australia and New Zealand is a must-see event for any creative industry stylist. Good luck to those who are entering!
