Throughout October, Australian foil company Foil Me partnered with the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) as a corporate partner, raising $31,000 with their Pink October and Wise Up in Pink campaigns. With the help of the hairdressing community the brand raised the mammoth amount for breast cancer research, exceeding their goal of $25,000 and raising almost $20,000 more than in 2018!
The brand collaborated with 250 salons and businesses that got involved across Australia, amounting to 91 donations (and counting) to the Foil Me NBCF link. Foil Me sold 4,000 units from their BCR collection and donated $4,000 from the business. Foil Me donated for every best-selling PINK foil set sold in their Knobel collection, and also crated an exclusive pink ribbon titled the BCR, which also had funds donated for every sold item.
“This year we were absolutely thrilled with the movement really picking up momentum and were so impressed to see so many salons and businesses joining our initiative and supporting both Foil Me and the NBCF to bring in a great fundraising result,” says Foil Me co-owner and Creative Director, Emily Ciardiello. “Since mid-August, we were encouraging the hairdressing community to join us in our Wise Up in PINK and Pink October campaign, raising awareness and funds for such a worthwhile cause; one that is close to our hearts and many of our clients/colleagues in the hairdressing industry.”
Participating salons received goodies such as NBCF balloons, NBCF donation boxes and pink scrunchies from Scrunchie Scrunch. This helped to raise awareness and funds in a wider community campaign that captured the hearts of hairdressers and clients alike. The money raised will go towards treating and raising awareness towards this deadline disease, which affects one in eight women and one in 700 men. The NBCF is proud to raise and grant funds exclusively for world-class research, because research is the only way to improve how breast cancer is diagnosed, managed and treated. The NBCF receives no government funding to assist in their research efforts. Every dollar raised helps the NBCF move closer towards their goal of zero deaths from breast cancer in 2030
“The support of our salons and customers on social media was phenomenal – it was amazing to see such enthusiastic involvement and so much PINK during October from the industry and know that they were contributing to our main aim – that we raise a funds and awareness,” Emily said. “We were so overwhelmed with the support that we had to choose a top 20 (not top 5) and then a top 6 out of that to award the best salon spirit prizes with two cartons of our Knobel collection and a top secret prize which was to be the first to receive our newest addition to the Foil Me collections – the Tone Me brush from the The Knobel collection (designed with Sheree Knobel).”
Congratulations to the winners in the following order, Gasp Hair, Mitchell & Co Hair, Zuster Hair, Eclectic Hair and Blank Canvas by Lou.
