Two big names are the first major draw cards for Hair Expo 2018, with the festival of hair announcing Angelo Seminara and Candy Shaw as international headliners. The Melbourne based event will be held over the Queen’s Birthday Long Weekend (June 9 – 11) with a host of interesting education, events and stalls to warrant the trip.
Angelo will be a major feature at Hair Expo, bringing incomparable experience and skill to Australia as a multi-award winner of British Hairdresser of the Year. His education sessions will combine artistic colour with clever cutting and bold styling, anchored by a day-long creative workshop where attendees can learn from him in a more intimate fashion.
“I am so thrilled and excited to come to Australia, I have been a few times and enjoy it immensely,” Angelo shared. “The Australian audience of hairdressers are amongst the most passionate and I love the idea of sharing my passion with them and the opportunity to hopefully share something very, very exciting and innovative!”
Candy Shaw will provide her own colour tips and tricks, particularly as a global expert in balayage. Playfully known as The Balay Lama, Candy offers creative and business education centered on this important and profitable trend.
“Balayage changes lives. It’s the biggest trend shift in the hairdressing industry since the flat-iron movement,” Candy said. “I cannot wait to share the tips, tricks, tools and techniques I have developed over the past 35 years behind the chair with my new hair friends in Melbourne. It has been a career dream of mine to jump across the pond and share my Balayage education and Southern hospitality with my fellow hairdresser.”
The education agenda will be suitably stacked, with business coach and TV personality Tabatha Coffey returning to the Expo for personal group sessions and exclusive one-on-ones, giving salon owners unique insights into how they can overcome their business hurdles and achieve success.
Internationally recognised creative educators such as Sharon Blain, MENSPIRE (UK), barber Mikey Denton (USA), the Pulp Riot team (USA), R+Co Co-Founder and Creative Director Howard McLaren (USA), Jaemyeong Jung, Jun Jung, Sujin Seo and Hee Lin Jung (Korea) supported by The Masters Institute of Creative Education, MATRIX Australia artists Kobi Bokshish, Stevie English and Paul Ricupito, the Kings Domain team, Jules Tognini, TONI&GUY, WAHL and more will take to the stage and education rooms around the venue to teach everything from colour, to cut, styling and men’s hair.
Business education will again be a major factor in the expo agenda, with top-tier educators such as Julie Piantadosi, Faye Murray, Brodie-Lee Stubbins and Steve Callus, Lisa Conway, Kylie Lewis, Cherie Stokic, The AHC, Bernadette Beswick, and Megan Yabsley sharing their incomparable knowledge and experience.
Beyond education, major brands such as Matrix Australia – which will act as the GenNext Gala sponsor – Professional Use, Haircare Australia, Rogue Beauty, WAHL, Andis, Alterna Haircare, Biolage R.A.W. and more will share their innovations, launches and product ranges from a maze of stands on the expo floor.
You can choose from a list of varied new passes (Platinum, Business, Look ‘n’ Learn, Barberland and Creative Super Passes), and take advantage of early bird pricing (closing April 13), to maximise the education over Hair Expo.
We have a feeling we’ll blink and it will somehow be June already. Start your planning now to make the most of the hairdressing industry’s annual highlight.
