Brisbane salon owner Carole Haddad is set to star in a new national reality TV show, titled Ageless. The eight-part series will be screened on the Nine Network from late March and feature Carole, alongside home stylist Lisa Young, in their quest to find love, in an episode titled ‘Love At Any Age’.
The series explores the lives of remarkable people over 50 who are breaking the mould and trying new things in their age bracket. For Carole, this meant trying to find love after 20 years, with a storied past that saw her grow up in a convent, navigate single motherhood and overcome cancer. The episode will show her try online dating for the first time.
“I was excited about finding a man and for a woman like me that’s never had a husband, I knew I had to approach things differently. My generation isn’t used to looking for someone online but getting into it, it’s just so much fun and liberating,” Carole said. “Even menopause hasn’t stopped me wanting to date. I just had the pause but not the men and trying online dating put a big spring in my step.”
“It’s not how many storms you survive, it’s how good you dance in the rain and I rock and roll! Hurdles come and go but it’s not about how much you hurt, it’s about stepping out from it,” she added. “I’ve had such support from everyone with this experience, they’re so excited for me. My friends are just like a Wonderbra – they keep me up and lifted. That’s what you want.”
The series, created by GemLife, features stories from 11 Australians challenging age-based stereotypes and educating viewers on varied experiences at any age.
“We want the show to encourage viewers of all ages to question how they define ageing and embrace the concept of agelessness,” said GemLife Director and Chief Executive Officer Adrian Puljich. “We see people who defy stereotypes in our communities every day and we want the wider community to understand there is more to age than a number. While the dictionary typically defines being ageless as ‘appearing younger than one’s age’ the show challenges this tired view by showcasing people who embody the ‘ageless’ mindset.”
