The Hair and Beauty Industry Association (HBIA) has partnered with the Australian Retailers Association (ARA), an alliance that hopes to strength and expand resources for HBIA members going into the new decade. In an already big year for HBIA, they have also announced Mark Rippon as their new general manager.
Mark will usher in a new era for the group, with extensive industry experience in education, brand development and more. He will focus on rebranding and relaunching HBIA in 2020 with a renewed special interest in salon wellness and refreshed communication across the hairdressing, beauty and barber sectors. As directed by HBIA brand development manager, Alannah Browne, this redevelopment leads with a new website that is even more dedicated to providing resources and support for the community. The new alliance with ARA is also a vital component of this new phase for HBIA. The ARA are Australia’s largest retail association, representing the country’s $310 billion -dollar sector, which employs more than 1.2 million people.
The partnership will bring together both associations to provide HBIA members with enhanced information on employment and law compliance, as well as providing additional training and support for members with a dedicated HBIA advice team, titled the Employment Relations Management System, as well online resources such as fact sheets and wage rates. HBIA is also working on increasing support for businesses that don’t quiet require employment relations support. The partnership between the ARA and the HBIA will exist to advance the Hair and Beauty industry by advocating and lobbying on behalf of members and encouraging additional provisions where required.
“This is an exciting opportunity for both the ARA and the HBIA to enhance support for all members and add further value to the current services provided to ARA and HBIA members,” said Russell Zimmerman, Executive Director of the ARA.
Other yearly features will include the Australian Hairdressing and Beauty Championships, hosted on May 24 and conducted by HBIA in Melbourne, as well as the company’s Student and Educator Awards, both of which will see fresh new categories to align with the bold new focus for the association.
The HBIA will continue to play a pivotal role in representing members, training providers and product companies to ensure the interests of the industry remain always at the forefront. It looks to be a shining new decade for HBIA!
