The Heiniger dream team of talented men’s hairdressers took to the stage across Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney from August 27 to 29 to launch the Intergalactic collection of hairdressing tools, in a tour titled When Stars Align. The brand’s Creative team, including Robert Braid, who travelled from abroad to be there, and local legends Jules Tognini and Matt Clarke, cut hair live in all three locations, before allowing attendees to experience the tools firsthand.
Across the three nights, the versatility of the tools was apparent. The trio combined to create modern hair looks, punk rock aesthetics, long hair looks and classic styles. Robert showcased the precise action of the tools in fades and undercuts, Jules tackled retro-style long hair and Matt presented classic barbery at its finest. The team created looks live on men and women to showcase just how dynamic the tools can be.
Before the skilled group of award-winning barbers took to the stage, MC and the brand’s Creative Director, Rex Silver, introduced the team and explained their journey with the tools. After discovering and falling in love with the tools himself, Rex sent the tools around and the trio were sold after experimenting for themselves.
Heiniger are renowned globally for their technology in the sheep shearing, dog grooming and animal space. This first turn into hair and barbering takes similar principles around power and precision and introduces them into salons, with inimitable experience forged on man’s best friend. Rex even joked that the tagline should be “tested on animals” – with safety, quietness and durability that has impressed in the animal world for so long, barbershops will love this equally new and well realised technology.
On stage, the team joked with each other, inspired and educated simultaneously, each explaining how these tools cut through the noise for them to earn a distinguished place in their tool kit. The Intergalactic range of five tools includes the Libertas T Trimmer, Orion, Sirius and Pegasus in Mini and Midi form.
After the group presented their first look, they opened the floor to attendees to try the tools themselves on their second looks and spent time educating young and experienced attendees alike as they discovered the technology. Over drinks and canapes, the hands-on workshop like atmosphere ensured attendees could experience the unique, pencil-like precision of the Libertas T Trimmer and the bold performance of the tools overall, with quiet, durable and powerful capabilities.
“For me the Libertas T Trimmer and the Pegasus Midi are most important tools I use,” Robert shared. “They work with my style of cutting, if I’m if I’m doing stage work, I always do quite intricate fading, like drop fades, reverse fades and things like that. I use the Midi because it’s a slightly smaller clipper, more forgiving and not so big and bulky, and then the T Trimmer just sharpens everything up.”
“I think they’re good for barbers and they’re good for salons as well. A lot of barbers are used to the tools that they have so it takes a lot for them to change tools, but when they get their hands on them and actually have a go, they’ll realise how good they are. They’re great for salons as well, because obviously women have more sensitive and softer skin, and it’s great for kids too. I just think they’re brilliant.”
