A group of Australia’s hairdressing elite showed up to Sydney’s five star Primus Hotel, where La Biosthetique was hosting their annual La Soiree at the event on the rooftop bar, with a view of the CBD skyline. The full La Biosthetique network had plenty to celebrate, including their Colour Lab Awards, new dynamic initiatives and their loyal staff and clients that proudly count themselves as part of the La Biosthetique family.
The 2017-2018 Colour Lab competition winner was announced as Brett McKinnon of the Murphy Gozzard Hair Community, chosen from a long list of entries from Australia and New Zealand. Entrants submitted two photographs over the latter half of last year, using their creative talent, and the La Biosthetique suite of products, to produce artistic images. The winner was chosen by a panel of judges comprised of the brand’s top talents, including Brett Albury, Adam Isles, Belinda Keely, Todd Arndt, Mia De Vries and Alexander Fuchs
“What we didn’t expect was the incredible range of looks created from the colour and the influx of entries from the amazingly talented network of stylists. It was a very tough competition to judge and a complete success right from the first year of running it,” said Alexander Fuchs. “Brett McKinnon was rewarded first place for his craftsmanship, multi-faced colour looks, and creative technique.”

The brand’s first ever colour competition in Australia, with entries accepted from New Zealand and Australia, gave the grand prize of the opportunity to tour Germany and France in October, and have a personal class with the International Colour director, Andrea Bennet. Congratulations to Bret for winning this fantastic prize.
The event included a runway show, sponsored by JETS swimwear and styled by Lydia Jane Saunders, complementing Avant Garde hair looks made for the show. The show was split up into different segments styled by teams led by Hair Director Todd Arndt of Vogue Nationale, Maria Ardino and Remington Schulz.
The evening was also the ideal forum for a myriad of announcements, such as the launch of a new award titled the 2017 Colour Experts, where talented colourists are put through a 4 day boot camp to become the brand’s premiere colourists. Colour with Care ambassador Brett McKinnon also announced that the brand have reached 40,000 Emergency Nutrition packs raised for Medecins Sans Frontieres through their philanthropic colour program. Margaret Bell, a midwife who works for the cause, spoke to the attendees to thank them for their incredible work in supporting the important charity.
Philanthropy, awards, fashion and networking, La Soiree showcased the best of La Biosthetique, championing the Australian community and continuing the adventure in Europe later in the year.
