The talented semi-finalists in the L’Oréal Professionnel Colour Trophy competition from Queensland and New South Wales paraded their looks on stage in this big week of competitions, ultimately crowning six more Colour Trophy finalists and two new Rising Star nominees.
At both the Joinery in Brisbane on October 21 and Ovolo in Wooloomooloo, Sydney on October 23, dozens of talented hairdressers competed to reach the next stage of this iconic competition.
The talented finalists created their editorial look in front of an impressive judging panel, before revealing them in a runway show to awaiting audiences.
This panel consists of Justin Pace and Papas & Pace, Marie Uva from UVA Salon, Frank Apostolopoulos of BIBA Salons, Brodie Lee Tsiknaris, Matt Clements of The Assembly Hair, Freda Rossidis of Mr Smith, Damien Rinaldo of Boris the Cuttery, Sheree Knoble of Bixie Colour and the marie claire team.
In Queensland, a big congratulations to last year’s winner Wendy Gunn of Ink for Hair, Hayley Jay Cook of Adam and Eva and Keira Salton, who are Colour Trophy finalists for the state. Lucy Bevan of Papas and Pace is the Rising Star finalist.
In New South Wales, Scott Sloan of Sloans, Claudia Cataldo of Cataldo’s Salon and Shaleena Winter of Suki are the Colour Trophy finalists. Ruby Smillie of Sloans of Lane Cove is the Rising Star nominee – well done to these finalists!

These talented finalists join the group already decided from SA/TAS and WA/NT, which is comprised of Massimo Tirimacco of Zo Hair Salon, Fiona Fazzalari of Hair Machine and Vanessa Rositano from Zink Hair, as well as Zoe Vanstone of Mahiki Hair who took out the title of Rising Star for the state of SA/TAS.
For WA/NT the names are Ben Semple of Circles of Subiaco, Damien Kabay & Kerina Marlow of Hemisphere Hair and Terrina Brown and Kristy McLennan of Zedz, as well as Rising Star nominee Emma Pisani also of Circles of Subiaco.
There is only one more semi-final event happening nationally – the VIC runway taking place in Melbourne on October 29.The grand finale has been diarised for February 25 2019, showcasing the peak of colour innovation, creativity and talent at the moment. Through the semi-final events, the journey has proved as exhilarating as the destination.
