It was collective hair royalty backstage for Leo and Lin, as TONI&GUY created the look, recent Australian Hair Fashion Awards (AHFA) Victorian Hairdresser of the Year Jo Smith directed the show and fellow AHFA New South Wales Hairdresser of the Year Katy Reeve worked on the team. The inspiring girl power and talent was well on display.
“Today I’m working on the Leo and Lin 2020 resort show, we have three looks we’ll be doing on the models,” Jo explained from backstage. “Our first look is a soft, romantic natural wave with a strong centre part, our second look will work with a textured bun, again a little bit romantic but more structured in its texture and our third look is a more lived-in, looser, grittier wave, with high shine around the hairline to really create structure in the hair.”
“With Leo and Lin they’re all about strong, elegant, romantic designs so we wanted the hair to complement what they’re doing with the show,” she continued. “So we’re working with these different three elements to bring out the aesthetic of that modern woman which is what their designs are all about.”
With these ultra skilled hairdressers backstage, the hair sponsor for MBFWA mastered another show, utilsiing label.m products such as the brand’s Volume Mousse and Texturizing Spray as the ultimate hair prep. Jo, Katy and the rest of the team provided plenty of energy and skills backstage.
“It’s fantastic to be able to work alongside Katy, she’s been my mentor and she’s a really good friend of mine,” Jo said. “Being able to share and collaborate and mesh our ideas together is amazing, it keeps me inspired and keeps me wanting to be better and keep moving forward.”
