This muk experience offers elite workshops hand-crafted by the artists themselves. Whether your trade is in cut, color, or a bit of everything, these accomplished educators will be using their platforms to help you become a well-rounded stylist. Notably, global hairdressing legend Nick Irwin has come on board to add his incomparable talents to the mix, writes McKenna Uhde.
Each member of this dynamic team was chosen not only for their hairdressing skills, but also their ability to communicate, inspire and educate. Let us introduce you to the artists and their must-see workshops that will be provided throughout the year.
Global Development Director and long-time muk supporter, Nick Irwin, has worked for more than 15 years with some of the most important brands in the industry before joining forces with the brand. “To stay fresh and inspired, you need a partner like muk Haircare to maximise your skills and speak to a dynamic audience – synergies that I certainly share with this brand,” Nick said. “Their fast thinking and raw inspiration empowers all types of hairdressers to be their creative selves and I couldn’t be more humbled to be on board.”
Now living in the UK, Nick has styled the tresses of Dakota Fanning, Doutzen Kroes and Rita Ora among others. He is an integral part of the development team with plans to design the brand’s profile across Europe and produce creative campaigns throughout the year to evolve the brand internationally. His initiation to muk is a major inclusion to the ecucation agenda fort he rest of the year.
Clive Allwright, muk Global Artistic Director, will continue with the muk team as he continues his stellar 32 year career. He plans to share his knowledge with ‘Lights. Camera. Campaign.’, a two-day workshop event that will take inspiration from the 2018 global campaign shoot and break down the techniques used on set to create ready to wear looks. He will then host an informative one-day workshop ‘Foundation Precision Cutting,’ a fast-paced and exciting hair-cutting experience.
Next in the lineup is Global Colour Director Lia Mei who at the age of 27 attended the New York’s Fashion Institute’s, The Art of Colour. This course inspired her to create the ‘Lia Mei Colouring System’ a way of analysing clients to choose tones and styles that will accentuate their best features. She plans to share her expertise over a two-day workshop, ‘From Darkness Comes Bright,’ an Infinite Colour Spectrum focused event, as well as a one-day workshop ‘From Darkness Comes Light,’ a balayage and freehand focused frenzy.
Global Directors of Barbering, Don Desanctis and Anthony Staltari, plan to share their experience with female hairdressers that strive to deliver traditional high end barbering to their male clientele. Their award winning success will be conveyed through their workshop ‘The Master and Apprentice: Craft of a Barber,’ which will share information with hairdressers wanting to transition into barbering or sharpen their barbering skills over the course of two days.
Lizzie Liros is on board as Global Director of Styling to share with students the method to her multi-award winning success. Having been voted Australia’s leading bridal hair designer for eight years, Lizzie will be sharing her editorial styling genius in a two-day workshop covering looks off the runway in Milan that can be deconstructed for everyday use in the salon. Lizzie will also host a ‘Red Carpet’ one-day workshop focused on a range of celebrity inspired looks.
