The British Fellowship Luncheon & Hair Awards were held in December to celebrate the very best of British creativity and business acumen in hairdressing, and a representative of our own AUSNZ community was honoured too. New Zealand’s prolific hairdresser Danny Pato of D&M Hair Design in New Zealand won the title of Fellowship International Image of the Year.
The event was held at The Londoner in Leicester Square, hosting 400 members of the British hairdressing community for a three-course lunch and Hair Awards that highlight the creativity and successes of the Fellowship members. The event was hosted by President Robert Eaton and Chancellor Karoliina Saunders.
“It was an honour to become your President and from the moment I came on board there’s been a seismic shift in the industry, but whatever you decide to do with your career, the Fellowship will be there to support you,” Robert shared at the event.
The event honoured the year’s Project leaders – ClubStar Art Team leader Karoliina Saunders, Project Colour leader Paul Dennison, Project X leader Sam Burnett and F.A.M.E. Team leaders Gary Hooker and Michael Young – for inspiring their teams through the year. It also announced the new F.A.M.E. Team leader as three-time British Hairdresser of the Year and former Fellowship Hairdresser of the Year, Sally Brooks. She will be mentoring the talented new team, consisting of Stephanie Gallagher from Wonderland, Stacey Wright from McKoy Hair Company;,Edd Moss from Headmasters and James Parr from Nashwhite. The event also heralded specific members who went the extra mile to mentor, lead and help at events.
Along with these commendations, the awards were then announced, ranging from new titles in 2022 including Educator of the Year and Session Hair Stylist of the Year, and the new Hall of F.A.M.E. Award, to traditional favourites and the pinnacle Fellowship Hairdresser of the Year. This award was won by TONI&GUY’s Cos Sakkas, following his recent win at the British Hairdressing Awards, in the major title of British Hairdresser of the Year.
In this midst of these talented British honourees, Danny represented the international contingent with pride. Danny is renowned for his artistic talent as a multi-year winner of New Zealand Hairdresser of the Year and is a celebrated artist on a global scale. This honour only adds to his many accolades.
Congratulations to all the winners!
