O&M collaborated with With Harper Lu on old Hollywood glamour in an off schedule Australian Fashion Week runway, with Grace Kelly of SHAG HAIR in her first hair director role leading the way. The vintage style runway took place at St. Siandra in Mossman on May 7.
“We drew inspiration from the essence of the collection, which was called La Dolce Vita, and what that would look like through hair. Think old Hollywood, textured glam and bouncy curls,” Grace said. “We worked with the natural texture of each models’ hair, enhancing their curls and length. Models with straight hair were transformed to that old school Hollywood blowout, accessorised with scarves and hats.”
Described as “the sun-drenched world of La Dolce Vita, where Italian heritage meets the effervescent charm of European Summers,” the show was created as an experience for guests to realise the designers’ vision of La Dolce Vita. Think arrival cocktails on the beach, a long lunch and live music, with the runway show featuring With Harper Lu maxi dresses, floral prints, leopard print and bright colourways, as created by designers Lucia Hanna and Cathie Burke.
“This collection invites you to embark on a journey of timeless elegance and carefree indulgence,” Lucia shared.
The hair brief comprised two key hair looks within this vintage aesthetic.
“We created two key hair looks to bring out each models’ inner ‘old Hollywood’, featuring With Harper Lu head scarves, and hats to bring the aesthetic together,” Grace said. “Every model has their own individual hair texture and we used three main products to achieve every single look. We wanted that glam yet natural look, as if they’d been on a Euro Summer lunch. We used the O&M Original Queenie Firm Hold Hair Spray, Thique Volumising Powder, and Atonic Thickening Spritz to achieve these runway looks.”
Get the look – ‘Old-Hollywood Blowout’:
- Start by applying O&M Atonic Thickening Spritz, saturating the roots and directional blow drying upwards to create volume.
- Using a large curling iron, curl hair away from face and pin each curl until cool and brushing it out.
- Apply O&M Original Queenie Firm Hold Hair Spray throughout hair.
- Finish O&M Thique Volumising Powder in the crown of the hair and fringe areas to maximise volume.
How-to on Textured Hair:
- Start by spraying down hair with O&M Atonic Thickening Spritz.
- Refine curls by using a diffuser to further enhance the natural texture.
- Finish with O&M Project Sukuroi through ends of hair for definition.
