One of the industry’s most beloved education series is coming back for a 2018 program – you can welcome Open Mic back to the fold after their 12 month hiatus and anticipate a myriad of dynamic education events hitting the schedule.
Over three years, the Open Mic series, pioneered by Wild Life Salon, compered by Gary Latham and with a very long running list of inspiring presenters, enthralled the industry and created a true artistically-themed, education-led community. Its return is set to launch on Monday March 26, with the Melbourne event including an incomparable list of performers. Namely, Sharon Blain of Sharon Blain Education, Frank Apostopoulos of BIBA, Jamie Furlan of Xiang Hair, Jayne Wild of Wild Life Hair, Lia Mei of Y Salon, Chung Yang “Yoshi” Su from Rokk Ebony, Nathan Armanacq of Oscar Oscar and Clive Allright of Our Place, as well the teams from Kings Domain and Grindstone.
The series was acclaimed for its creatively-minded, humorous approach to hair education, where presenters would create bold Avant Garde looks in short, informative presentations, and then all congregate for an insightful, funny Q and A session at the end. Gary’s running commentary ensured the evenings were always kept light and enjoyable.
In its previous incarnation, the series travelled the country, starting in Wild Life’s Milson Point Sydney salon and taking on other major cities through the series. It all starts again at the Headmaster’s Academy on March 26, and you can look out for more dates closer to home afterwards. Until then, book your flights!
