Legendary Australian hairdressing educator Ruth Browne has been given a major new appointment, being named the head of hairdressing at Box Hill Institute. The school is in the middle of a large-scale reinvention of the faculty, spearheaded by the institute’s executive director of educational delivery, Jane Trewin, and Ruth is the ideal leader to aid in propelling the school forward.
“We are honoured to have such a highly respected professionals on board to oversee the reinvention of hairdressing at Box Hill Institute,” Jane said.
Ruth will be working with the teams to grow business opportunities at the school, drawing on her impressive experience to bolster the education facility. Ruth was awarded a Minister’s Award for Excellence in Education in 2010 and inducted to the Hair Expo Hall of Fame in 2006. She has represented hairdressing education internationally many times including as a judge of the Skills Olympics in France, Switzerland, Canada and South Korea, she is also a Life Member of the Australian International Hair Stylists Association and has been inducted into the International Hairdressing Hall of Fame in Chicago. She is renowned for her expertise in competency based training and flexible delivery methodologies, with educative experience at Pivot Point education and TAFE.
Joining the team alongside the new appointment of Hayley Whittle-Campbell as the new head of Beauty and Aesthetics, the future of Box Hill Institute remains in very safe hands, with pioneers of the hairdressing, beauty and education spheres at the helm and leading the charge.
