Schwarzkopf Australia has joined with global recycling initiative TeraCycle, which innovated in recycling hard-to-recycle waste, ensuring all their care, colour and style products will be recyclable nation-wide. The Schwarzkopf Australia Terracycle initiative, titled Schwarzkopf Cares, will also accept and recycle all competitor hair care products in the joined interest of sustainability. Encourage your clients to take part in this consumer focused campaign that truly benefits the hair industry and environment as a whole.
Schwarzkopf Cares is committed to providing a recycling solution in haircare, and will present the opportunity to divert up to 147 million units of hair products from landfill. The brand’s exclusive partnership with TerraCycle gives a rare opportunity for consumers and the hair industry to make unrecyclable products recyclable.
TerraCycle is a waste management company committed to eliminating the idea of waste, with operation for fifteen years, across 21 countries, a major philanthropic spirit and hundreds of awards to its name in its mission to truly change the world.
The program will accept hair care product packaging including trigger heads, pumps, tubes, caps and tubs, hair product aerosols including hair spray, mousse and dry shampoo, and hair colour products including bottles, pumps, sachets, gloves, plastic stirrers and tubes. Consumers, individuals and groups can register online and pack their used products into a box to ship to TerraCycle for recycling. This waste will be recycled into everything from park benches to bike racks, pet food bowls and recycling bins.
Beyond these sustainability wins, the initiative will also help the less fortunate, offering credits for every shipment of waste sent to Terracycle. One kilogram of waste equals a $1 donation to the donor’s charity of choice.
“Sustainability is a key pillar of what we do at Schwarzkopf and we’re focused on continuing to take the right steps forward to design for sustainability,” said Peter Rigby, GM ANZ Henkel Beauty Care Retail. “We’re proud to be launching the Schwarzkopf Cares Recycling Program, in partnership with TerraCycle, in Australia and New Zealand – it moves us one step closer to our goal of ensuring all our packaging is 100 per cent recyclable or reusable by 2025.”
“Our partnership with TerraCycle provides an opportunity for all consumers to recycle all brands of hair products. We believe that partnerships such as this are key to our sustainability journey and look forward to growing our sustainability initiatives within Henkel Beauty Care Retail ANZ.”
So encourage your consumers to do their best for the planet in every way with ease, and here’s to 100 per cent recyclable, reusable or compostable packaging for Schwarzkopf by 2025 and a truly circular hair care economy.
