Perth hairdresser Kim Haberley of Boho Blonde is a social media sensation, with hundreds of thousands of followers across various platforms and a knack for viral content that gains up to millions of views.
We spoke to the content creator about growing this online brand, engaging with followers and creating hairdressing content online, so you can invest in this crucial marketing tool.
Tell us about your social media following – what platforms do you engage with the most?
My subscriber babies are the ones I am most engaged with however I really put a lot of time and energy into making sure I reply to all my Instagram and TikTok DM’s and interact with everyone in the comments. I love and appreciate everyone who follows me so much, I also love engaging with the community and helping provide education wherever I can!
How have you built your following?
I organically grew my following for about a year or two, however once I found my place on TikTok everything fell into place and moved really quickly. At that stage, I really noticed my TikTok following transferring to my IG following too. I think my followers really relate to and appreciate my honesty and realness. I am also really open about sharing my techniques, formulas as well as my mistakes. This has created a really engaged and invested audience.
What is trending on social media right now?
It is ever changing, people are starting to show the process, which is really trending in terms of content creation. In terms of hair trends, I’m seeing a lot of honey blondes and lowlights, as well as low maintenance blondes.
What content do audiences respond to?
Education is definitely the number one type of content my audience responds to, however I find honestly and openly sharing things like my mistakes and anything relatable, or real life situations that I experience, tends to get the most engagement and traction on social media.
What is your top social media tip?
Just get started and post consistently, find your niche and once something does well, keep posting similar content. Authenticity is the one thing people can’t copy so always keep that in mind.
