Sustainable Salons has a company mission to help the planet so it’s fitting that they’re extending their work across that planet with a new international launch. The business will debut in New Zealand in April, with a launch event held at Servilles Academy to take place on April 4. This is the first time Sustainable Salons has stretched beyond Australia, and the company is therefore dropping the Australia part of its former Sustainable Salons Australia banner to operate under the moniker of Sustainable Salons.
Registrations are already open to salons in the Auckland metro area and surrounds, with interested salons able to become members of Sustainable Salons. At the launch event, the company will announce their local plans, operations and repurposing materials, as well as introducing KiwiHarvest, who they will partner with for recycling purposes, mirroring the Australian branch’s connection to OzHarvest.
“It’s pretty simple. When an opportunity comes up to take the sustainability movement somewhere, you make it happen,” shared Sustainable Salons Co-founder and Operations Director Ewelina Soroko. “Awareness is awesome and extremely important, but action is the only way we’re truly going to build a better planet.”
“New Zealand are our neighbours, especially in our salon industry” continued Paul Frasca, Co-founder and Managing Director of Sustainable Salons. “Australia and New Zealand have been working and playing together for so long, whether it’s in recognising our top talents or sharing resources and education. Getting ready to spread the sustainability love across the ditch has been a huge buzz and we’re so excited that we can finally have our Kiwi mates on the Green Team!”
The New Zealand operation will be run by Devon Tong as its New Zealand National Business Development Manager, harnessing his experience in marketing across New Zealand, Australia and the UK.
“I’m stoked to be part of a much-needed initiative like Sustainable Salons in New Zealand,” Devon said. “It’s amazing to be working with such an inspiring team and a network of forward-thinking clients who understand that by jumping in together we can all make a massive change!”
Sustainable Salons has made major strides in helping the salon industry help the planet, and has won acclaim in hairdressing, innovation and business circles for their efforts. The company collects up to 95 per cent of salon waste for recycling, and finds repurposing solutions for salon materials ranging from colour, to foils and even hair itself, which is used to collect oil spills. This level of forward-thinking goes a long way to reducing our collective global footprint – we couldn’t be happier that it’s now a global initiative.
New Zealand salons – get on board.
