Leading hair industry artist and educator Tracey Hughes has unveiled her latest editorial offering, teaming up with photographer Amber Toms to release Decrhoma.
“Colour is descriptive; black and white is interpretive,” the pair described of the images. “Intentional and evocative, Dechroma captures the essence of its subjects. In a world saturated with the ordinary, Dechroma emerges as a beacon of artistry, transcending conventional beauty to paint a vibrant masterpiece on the canvas of individuality.”
“Hair becomes the medium for expression and character, revealing itself through varied textures, linear shapes, deep shadows, and stark contrasts. Peel back the layers to reveal the heart of minimalism, conveying emotions that capture the soul of the moment while highlighting the essence of beauty.”
Describing the collection as “abstract, dynamic and gracious”, the editorial offering showcases Tracey’s skills in this field. Tracey is known to headline global events, has presented to over 500,000 professional hairdressers globally and innovates as a hairdresser, salon owner, educator, hair director, artistic director, a Global VP of Education and a brand General Manager. Tracey is a speaker, MC, mentor and digital content producer, with a myriad of education, hairdressing and colour awards and Hall of Fame titles to her name. Amber complements her skills as a modern, freelance photographer with 20 years of experience. Amber’s work has been seen on magazine covers, billboards, editorials and advertising campaigns across hair, beauty, fashion, lifestyle and resorts.
The pair worked with hair assistants Jackson Fifield and Chloe Adele, with makeup artistry by Bianca Chantel, styling by Lisa Naumann and styling assistance by Heather Murray. The collection was shot at Focal House in the Gold Coast, with videography by Shady El-Agamy.
