The power of men’s hair was evident through the whole June long weekend, as Hair Festival offered barbering Education Sessions and The Barber Hub through the MarketPlace to showcase skills and innovation from leading men’s hairdressers and barber brands, and these talents were apparent at the Australian Hair Industry Awards (Creative) as well. Luke Munn from Havachat Barbershop won the title of SA/TAS Hairdresser of the Year, for a collection that showed the editorial side of men’s hair.
Shot in black and white, the collection showcases braids, long hair, patterned colour techniques, versatile textures and more. Traditionally feminine shapes and facets such as flicks and fringes allow the collection to blur gender lines and showcase the diverse masculinity across the spectrum of men’s hair styles.
Luke created the collection with photographer David Mannah, makeup artist Pablo Morgade and stylist Josie McManus, creating an editorially savvy, UK- style aesthetic, with eclectic hero fashion pieces that showcase the interesting high fashion aspect of hair.
Congratulations on this significant win!
