Discover the Cinematic Collection from New Zealand hairdresser Kylie Hayes of Moha Hairdressing, which was recently honoured as a finalist in the title of New Zealand Hairdresser of the Year at the 2022 Australian Hair Industry Awards (Creative) in June.
The conceptual collection plays with form, shape and graphic design, inspiring in its complex and artistic hair techniques and becoming an ode and black and white cinema. The black and white base allows room to highlight the use of hair as a fabric and canvas constructed in bold, dynamic ways.
“I was seduced by the many black and white collections that have been surfacing this past year produced by some fabulous industry creatives and decided I wanted to create my own,” Kylie said on social media. “My collection Cinematic offers characteristics typically found in black and white films, it is filled with drama and is emotionally captivating. I have explored multiple hair textures and silhouettes resulting in stark contrasts and dream-like finishes.”
“Cinematic was inspired by divas of the black and white film era, it’s a celebration of my love of women and a celebration of my love of hair art,” she continued.
The collection was created and styled by Kylie in both hair and fashion, with photography by Rosanne Donaldson. Be inspired by the full collection.
