The CIRCA 66 Collection comes courtesy of the famed Adelaide-based S J Establishment salon, winning a nomination at the 2022 Australian Hair Industry Awards (Creative) in June for the title of Creative Team of the Year, a title they were nominated for two years in a row. The salon is headed by award-winning hairdressing pioneer and salon director Sam James.
Paying testament to their collective skills in creative direction, combined talent and working together cohesively to create this group of images, the CIRCA 66 collection was created by the salon team, with photography by Hayley Renee and makeup by Melissa Norris.
According to the salon’s social media, the collection was inspired by the pages of vintage Vogue magazines, taking the titular styles of the 60s and 70s, described by the salon as an “era of change”, while making them ever-modern and relevant for today.
Farah Fawcett-style flicked shag techniques and voluminous locks are paired with sleeker and shorter looks and up styles, all of which are unified through gold hair accents, beauty details, accessories and fashion styling.
